For physicians, therapists and treatment teams

Refer a Client Who Needs More Than a Visit Can Give

You handle your specialty. Joseph Sparks, LCSW, pulls sleep, stress, training, food and life at home into one daily plan and keeps it going between your appointments. It's coaching, not therapy or medical care, so it adds to your care instead of competing with it.

How a referral works

From your office to a daily plan

  1. 1You send him our wayShare the site or our number, or email us with your client's consent.

  4. 4Daily structureTwo quick check-ins a day and a weekly session, in person or online.
  5. 5You stay in the loopWith your client's consent, you get updates. Your role doesn't change.

Joey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, but these programs are coaching. He doesn't diagnose, treat or prescribe, and anything clinical comes back to you.

Who's a good fit

Good fit

  • Men who are functioning but burning out: poor sleep, low energy, stress that follows them home
  • Patients who know what to do but can't make it stick between visits
  • High performers who won't start therapy but will do coaching
  • Clients finishing therapy or a treatment program who want daily structure, with their clinician's okay

Better served elsewhere

  • Anyone in crisis or having thoughts of suicide (988 or emergency care)
  • Active substance use that needs treatment first
  • Anyone looking for psychotherapy; Joey will help them find the right fit
  • Conditions that need medical management rather than coaching

What you can count on

  • Scope Coaching stays coaching. If something clinical comes up, your client is sent back to you.
  • Updates With consent, you hear how he's doing, not just whether he showed up.
  • Your plan Your recommendations get built into his daily routine instead of sitting in a handout.
  • Options 6- and 12-week coaching, small-group retreats, and monthly continuing care.

Questions providers ask

Is this therapy?

No. Joey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and that training shapes how he coaches, but the programs are coaching. They don't replace therapy or medical care, and they're built to work alongside both.

How do I send a referral?

The simplest way is to give your client our number, (805) 285-2584, or the booking page. You can also email hello@sparkingchangewellness.com with your client's consent and we'll reach out.

Will I hear back?

Yes, with your client's consent. You'll know whether he started, and you can get updates as he goes.

Where does Joey work?

In person in Westlake Village and the Conejo Valley, and by video or phone anywhere in the US. Retreats run in California, Lake Tahoe, Colorado and Utah.

What does it cost?

Program pricing is covered on the free call. Continuing care after a program runs $250 to $1,000 a month depending on the tier.

Have someone in mind?

Call, email, or have your client book a free 30-minute call. Joey will tell both of you honestly whether coaching is the right next step.
