Sparking Change Retreats

Lake Tahoe Men's Retreat

A Sparking Change retreat at Lake Tahoe puts 8 to 12 men in a private mountain home for a few days of workshops, recovery and real conversation. It's built for men who are burned out, sleeping badly or running on willpower, and it ends with a measurable plan, not a pep talk.

Why Tahoe

Tahoe sits at more than 6,000 feet, ringed by forest and granite, with a lake cold enough to make a plunge memorable. The terrain suits the afternoon challenge, whether that's a hike or a mountain bike ride. Being up high and away from the usual noise makes it easier to notice how wired you've been running.

What the days look like

Every Sparking Change retreat runs on the same framework as the coaching programs, compressed into a few days. A typical day:

  • 7:00 AM Sunrise movement and breathwork
  • 8:00 AM Breakfast and nutrition education with the chef and nutritionist
  • 9:30 AM Workshop: stress science, mindset or nervous system regulation
  • 11:00 AM Sauna and cold plunge with guided recovery
  • 2:00 PM Workshop: goal setting, dopamine reset or performance identity
  • 4:00 PM Outdoor challenge, often a mountain hike or a ride on the trails
  • 6:30 PM Dinner and a community circle
  • 8:00 PM Integration with the mentor team

Morning and night check-ins run the whole time, and there's a guest speaker each day.

Before you arrive and after you leave

Before the retreat, every man completes bloodwork, an intake questionnaire and a call with the team, and a partner physician reviews the labs. After it, you get an integration worksheet within 48 hours, a follow-up call with Joey within a week, and a lab retest with your physician at four to six weeks. If you want to keep going, coaching picks up where the retreat leaves off.

Common questions

How many men are on each retreat?

8 to 12. The group is kept small on purpose so everyone gets direct time with Joey and the team, and no one sits on the sidelines.

Will the altitude affect me?

Some people feel it the first day or two: poorer sleep, shorter breath on climbs. If you have a heart or lung condition, or any medical concern, talk with your doctor before you book. Bring it up on your pre-retreat call too.

When is the next retreat?

Book a free call to ask about upcoming dates, apply, or join the waitlist.

Is this therapy or medical care?

No. The retreat is coaching and education, built on Joey's clinical training as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Lab work is reviewed by a partner physician, and anything medical stays with your own doctor.
